Day 20

Image
Busy in the barn The first day of our last week here at Village was rainy, as if Nelson mourned in preparation for the upcoming loss of its homesteaders. "Sanging sungs" happened in the barn, and although the outdoors were damp, the campers' vitalities were not. Mountain Dew, Down By the Bay, Little Cabin in the Woods, and others made the soundtrack of our morning. Before beginning work, each homesteader met with the commissioner in charge of their "groupie" and made intentions for the block. Adding a warm glow! A very exciting community college course took place during werk berzerk I: LED light installation! Villagers worked hard to line up batteries, mini lights, and copper wires ~just so~ to make their peeps' homes a little more homey. Other homesteaders continued to work on their houses and businesses. Werk-shoppin' Positive bank manager A surprise at snack: hot chocolate! All were ch...

Day 19: Hey! There is NO giggling at Town Meeting!!!

Sort-of-solemnly swearing to "use my powers for good" in the town council meeting. We accomplished an incredibly ambitious agenda today for our fourth Friday and Campfire Day! From singin' our favorites and a new one (to some) called the Sun Song, we moved quick to retrieve Peeps and get started with announcements. There was so much to do! After singing we convened in small groups to discuss personal finances and progress towards completing their tiny homesteads. We're checking in often to make sure Homesteaders have in mind that home appraisals and loan repayment deadlines are coming up soon! The fifth week is almost here! A real accomplishment is that everyone has finished their houses, and all but a few have moved from the workshop (where they are their final touches) to the land! After checking progress we gathered for an "open format" Town Meeting. A little background: There have been a lot of contentious changes in the Peeps political...

Day 18

Image
Thursday, a "snaptastic" day and our 18th at camp. We started out with singing and announcements. Before homesteaders left the circle, R50 checks signed by the Fed or to be signed by peeps who hadn't completed their house/fence/map were distributed. All but a few peeps earned the reward! Great progress. During werk berzerk 1, Michelle led a community college course on wheel/axel arrangement for mini cars that could be used during land time. There were many attendees due to the high demand for faster travel time. Other homesteaders worked on their homes and businesses, as usual, until snack time. This homesteader finished her house today!   Work shoppin'  Making a wheeled peep-mobile! Their vehicle has a spacious trunk  for peep cargo and passengers A hot air balloon ride for Mini Fair After snack, everyone went swimming!! Those who chose to stay on shore played "don't even get me started" and "three ...

Day 17

Wednesday was HOT and BUSY, but everyone pushed through and made great progress while maintaining a collectively positive attitude! As per usual, "Down by the Bay" was the hit song in our morning circle, and new rhymes provoked laughter. Visitors and the peeps they made: Jorj and Fred During werk berzerk 1, simultaneous community college classes on wood burning and needle felting were led by Michelle. Adding design to popsicle sticks Things in the peep loft and work shop were equally as busy!
